THE NORTHMAN (Trailer 1)
New Eggers in April; I’m in.
Richard Skelton, THE COMPLETE MARKING TIME
Been a Skelton morning: this one’s been on rotation for awhile.

Riding high on the success not only of telling RED NOTICE to fuck off (hated it) but of last night's culinary experiment: I now like tofu. Not going full veg, but adding some of its cuisine to my standard / default dinner menu to eat less red meat, lower shit cholesterol, better regulate overnight/fasting blood sugars, ward off inflammation, and dull the potential impact of yet-to-be-officially-but-not-unlikely rheumatoid arthritis (my familial inheritence being autoimmune disorders, it would seem; shit deal). Plus, if I can cook tasty new things that I can actually eat (unlike, say, standard fare for family gatherings), it might help bring me out of my cooking rut. Ever since the T1D diagnosis, cooking – once a love – has felt like little more than a pharmaceutical exercise for my requisite medicinal intake. Fingers crossed that this helps ameliorate that (tofu success: extra firm, seasoned with kosher salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and garlic with two eggs on top).
Started MONEY HEIST last night: if the first episode is anything to go by, I'm in. In other news, a solid writing morning, things churning, coming into being etc etc; the day awaits.
Mario Batkovic, INTROSPECTIO
If you’re looking to hear all that an accordion can do - and then things you never imagined -, Batkovic’s your guy. Been listening to both this and his self-titled debut all week.

I am awake and alive, mostly, though I continue to be numbed to my core by the inanity of RED NOTICE (marriage is, if nothing else, the perpetual final exam in the art of compromise) and how exhausted I am with Ryan Reynolds's schtick. Also – like/unlike my tolerance for Reynolds's schtick (un– because I actually enjoy writing it), – almost done with this weekend's newsletter, a short one because it's RE/EMERGENCE0005 + subscriber-exclusive alternate EJK-takes weekend; wide release on Wednesday. Tagshuffle will continue, Sunday visits abound with attendant dread; the day awaits.
(PS I need to include mushrooms in my omelette every morning; that was DELICIOUS.)
BREATHLESS (1960)
Tried watching it years ago and hated it: 20 years on, I’m in its thrall. A Godard-binge not unlikely.
(Written and directed by Jean-Luc Godard from a story by François Truffaut and Claude Chabrol. Starring Jean Seberg, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Henri-Jaques Huet, and Liliane David. Released 16 March 1960.)
