Update: I'd do well to remember that those awful first workblocks of the morning more often than not herald excellent second workblocks – especially once I get my head out of my ass.
Hoping that the lack of any creative / work impulse, drive, or ethic is nothing more than a byproduct of perpetual mental interruption of the albatross-gauntlet of the emptying of my grandfather's house and the exhausting hell of the last several months, but mornings like this one make me question whether that's all there is to it.
Taken to calling the thing I'm fiddling about with "an exercise in frenetic minimalism": while I haven't a clue what that means (beyond a phrase that sort of defines itself), I do like the sound of it.
Tomorrow's newsletter (which is mostly me being angry about curtains and dust in a dead man's house) is in the send queue, delivery scheduled for +/-0700 tomorrow morning. More moving of things awaits.
I/O – Peter Gabriel
Gabriel’s first album in 20 years (since the personally creative direction-altering UP) is a masterwork, replete with amazing, unsettling cover art. Not sure I can add much more to that other than I’m considering buying that huge vinyl set that won’t be here until who knows when because it’s that good. One of the year’s best.
