To answer the question of how I’m doing on my first Christmas since my mother’s death: this has been the most relaxing, most enjoyable holiday season I’ve had in 30 years.

Bags 5-8: Lego assembly has become something of a tradition for my wife and I on her Christmas break: we set aside sets accumulated throughout the year and binge-assemble them over a two-week chunk before she goes back to educating the demon spawns in the new year. For what it’s worth, this set is really remarkable; easily one of my favorite builds.

Wind chill advisory run update: frigid and short but enjoyable and required for sanity. Also saw some jackass in a tricked-out, climate-slaughtering, smokestacks-for-exhaust pickup spin out in the middle of the highway so that was neat.
