Inexplicable bloodsugar surge overnight but probably rectified with a few extra breakfast clicks of the orange pen, in theory anyhow. Likely outcome: I'll drop too low to run, have to eat something to run, then end up too high, run, come back, and find myself back where I started. Such is the T1D day, the third full-time job of the day.

JURASSIC PARK remains a fun ride – though I'd forgotten how quickly it ended. Bit of an imbalance there: would've been better, IMO, to leave end as is and lob off 99% of the expository first act since everyone agreed to go to the island rather quickly and nothing there impacted the rest of the film. Still: that T-Rex scene at the end? And the raptor kitchen scene? Love.

56ºF and sun. Post-breakfast playtime – ballthrow, probably – and return to The Work – with coffee – await.

Listening: Brian Eno, MUSIC FOR INSTALLATIONS.

44ºF under cool and crisp sun: a Jorkie continues to recover from another hormonally-wrought attack by The Morkie (I'm going to YouTube "neuter dog" before too long; fortunately Kirby's month of the snip and the tack and the cone draws nigh). Not a bad savaging, but troublesome, nonethless. The Jorkie relishes the kisses and the carries.

Started my umpteenth rewatch (and first in about 20 years) of JURASSIC PARK last night – K's first viewing. Still holds up: the music reminds me of why it made me want to go into music composition the first time I saw it in the movie theatre; its effects are still awe-inspiring, nearly 30 years after they changed the face of film. Timmy still annoys the fuck out of me.

September's MacroParentheticals dispatch – and early access to the fourth re/emergence collab between myself and Elizabeth Joan Kelly – arrives in subscribers' inboxes at +/-1000 EST. You can sign up here, if so inclined.

Dog-children, sustenance; Jorkie, kisses and carries. On with the day. Type type type.

The morning's listening: PALEOSHAMAN, by Paleowolf; THIS PLACE TO BE, by Steve Roach.

Another chilly Fall morning – in other words, perfect.

Still working out a reading routine, the Goldilocksing brought to pages and to time and all that. Current question: is reading like running, where I aim for a certain set of miles, or is it like writing, where I am for time spent?

Rewatched the 1945 DICK TRACY film for the first time in 25-30 years. Solid hour-long B-flick with my favorite cinematic Dick Tracy, Morgan Conway; I'd forgotten how many strange – and wonderful – characters populated the film (though Junior still grates – even though he did manage a modicum of utility).

Might have found more clarity on The Main Thing: only one way to find out. Trying not to let myself have that second cup of coffee until I go back to work, so since I want that cup of coffee, I'd best get back to work.

“Note-Taking when Reading the Web and RSS”

"Limit yourself to skim articles in your RSS reader: get an overview quickly, then decide if you want to keep it. Skimming is especially useful to get ahead of hundreds or thousands of new feed items. You have to get the interesting pieces out of the feed reader and into a collection you’re going to process later, or else you’ll likely never see the end of your surprisingly long, intimidating “unread items” queue."

Good morning; it’s currently 49ºF under sunny skies: hoodies are on and things are moving along, if only in a constancy of fits and spurts.

After much back and forth decided on a middle ground between a digital zettelkasten system and an analog one: I'll use the digital as a sort of index, but, if I want to explore things and thoughts further, I'll reference the notebook page where they exist (as I would with a regular book, for example). Think this is a happy medium that addresses some of my tech/thoughtprivacy concerns. Since I just started, I can afford to shift things around – but that window is closing.**

Never underestimate the power of a phone call to get something done, especially when the automated man at the pharmacy is a slacker. "Your prescription will be ready on Tuesday... on Wednesday"... an hour after a single call to the endo, the pharmacy text: your prescription is ready. My CGM/anti-theft tag will be implanted anew this afternoon, the march towards bluetoothiness continuing ever forward.

The dog-children require sustenance; the day awaits.
