Trying to make writing these an exercise in in-betweenness, dashed-off in the 15 minutes of back and forth from desk-to-door to get Kirby inside from his post-breakfast "run and frolick" interregnum because I want to get three hours a morning in on the Main Project, the Main Project today being MacroParentheticals0073, which will arrive in +/- 90.

Realization: I have forgotten everything about MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: ROGUE NATION which makes rewatching it all the more enjoyable because I feel as though I'm seeing it for the first time. McQuarrie really is the best thing to happen to the always-enjoyable M:I franchise: they do their job admirably. I remember far more about MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT, mostly Vanessa Kirby (no I did not, in spite of my ardor, name Kirby after her; Jack would be the namesake) and Henry Cavill's 'stache.

Kirby, inside... Kirby, inside!.. KIRBY, INSIDE…

weekend fun with metadata

Learning my way around Squarespace's CSS and made a couple of changes that make this space more amenable to how I think.

One, I took out the date metadata below posts – which functioned as permalinks – and replaced it with a tag in my zettelkasten prefix; today would be 20220319. Now, whenever you click that zettel-link, all the posts for the day will appear in reverse chronological order. This makes linking to these posts in the newsletter FAR easier and more in keeping with my intention that the day itself be considered one large post of various divergences and such.

(Potential problem: I look forward to seeing the maximum number of tags Squarespace allows; the fix could simply be that I let those previous tags go and start anew but we’ll see what happens. Won’t worry about it for now.)

Two, since the permalink is removed with the date – and I use a lot of title-less posts here, I found a bit of code to inject that created a little ∞ symbol below the category and added it. Instant permalink, no need for a date schema that didn't line up with my way of organizing the space of wanton braindumping.

Came up with a little side comics project I wanted to try and found that I had already started a file for it six months, give or take, ago, a development that I take to be either a good sign or one of similar lack of forward motion on the MainFictionThing six months in the past. Regardless, put a feeler out into the socials because I'm tired of my failure to get a comics thing into the world being a source of two and a half decades of heartbreak. Maybe it'll become something maybe it won't but fuck it at this point: I'm going for it.

Second episode of PICARD much better than the first and reinforced that all I want out of this series is a Raffi / Seven spinoff... started playing TITANFALL 2 last night – first impression: effective blend of BATTLEFIELD, PACIFIC RIM, HALO, and RED FACTION that will (most likely) sate me while I decide whether or not to dedicate the next chunk of my life to ELDEN RING – probably will, but need a breather from open-world vastness... I am beyond intrigued by the Issa López / Barry Jenkins TRUE DETECTIVE.
