TSBMR no more

After much back and forthing over the last 24 hours, I've decided that, instead of switching to bi-weekly, I'm pulling the plug on THE SHORTBOX MEMORY REVUE completely. While it was a fun little experiment, my reasoning boils down to the simple truth that I'd rather spend my creative time writing fiction and my usual little slices of whenever/whatevers here. As you were.

TSBMR/0005 :: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, No. 350 (Micheline / Larsen, 1991)

Each week, I make a blind pull from Siri's (randomized) choice of one of the 35 alphabetically-organized shortboxes that constitute my comics collection, (re-)read it, talk about it, and, on (or about) Wednesday, post whatever emerges; you can subscribe via RSS, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast delivery system. This week: DOOM SERVICE / DOOM SERVICE / DOOM SERVICE(!)

TSBMR/0004 :: GREEN LANTERN, No. 26 (Johns / McKone, 2008)

Each week, I make a blind pull from Siri's (randomized) choice of one of the 32 alphabetically-organized shortboxes that constitute my comics collection, (re-)read it, talk about it, and, on (or about) Wednesday, post whatever emerges; you can subscribe via RSS, Apple Podcasts, or your preferred podcast delivery system. This week: internal affairs(!) / cleveland(!) / peter weller(!)

TSBMR/0003 :: THE ORIGINAL DICK TRACY, No. 4 (Chester Gould, 1945/1991)

This week: "plain boiled turnips!" / RIP cow / smurf ice cream…

TSBMR/0002 :: JSA, No. 26 (Johns / Morales, 2001)

This week: my shitty memory / creeper Hawkman / shoeboxes:

hawkman and the jsa look at you

TSBMR/0001 :: WHITEOUT No. 1 (Rucka / Lieber, 1998/2007)

First episode of a new, audio take on my erstwhile Wednesday Randoms of eras past: welcome to THE SHORTBOX MEMORY REVUE, in which I pick a comic from the 32 shortboxes that constitute the comics bit of The Collection at random, re-read it, and talk about it - and my sordid history with it - here. Very much ironing out the kinks, but I think I’ll enjoy myself. New episodes probably every Friday. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Art from WHITEOUT, No.1, by Steve Lieber. Carrie walks across a desolate snowscape town.
