first day

First day working in NuSanctum – though much of that Work involved installing the air conditioner as the space was uninhabitable by 1030, a placeholder until the heat pump – and it's been exactly what I've wanted in a workspace for years (the knowledge that my useless creative meanderings are no longer contributing to planetary climate decimation is also rather therapeutic). Still have to add shelving and organize things – and decide which (if any) items from The Collection will make their way out here – but that's for another day: for now, I'm going to let myself bask in the victory.

Nu-Sanctum update

NuSanctum (formerly NuShed) progress continues apace: took a step back and put everything in something resembling its final placement (from the cacophony of its previous week) to figure out what to do next. Eaves are done and doored up; ceiling tile and metal sheets in place (still in fine-tuning progress, though); nearly finished with the shiplapping - though, thanks to my local large hardware store being out of the kind I was using (because I bought it all), I resorted to pre-painted at another large hardware store, just to make some semblance of progress on the walls (thankfully, it'll be fine, since we'd already decided the walls themselves will be black throughout). No clue when my solar folk will return to do the rest of their part. Soon, I hope: getting sick of extension cords.

desktoppery

Two desktops are built and resting on VERY temporary legs so I can figure how much more desk I need (two feet, give or take); for-really-real legs arrive tomorrow. Solar guys will start rough wiring the system next Wednesday so I can start drywalling by the end of next week. Might be working in here sooner than I expected - which, now that I've said it, means I'm not working in there until 2027.

nu-shed has arrived(!)

Current plan is that it will become my studio or, as I’m fond of saying, the place where I build shit and write shit. The Paintshop will become the home of The Collection and the pool table. Next steps: solar power. I’d love to be fully moved in and working in it by Thanksgiving. A shit-tonne of construction between now and then: I do love a project.
